Lower back pain can be incredibly debilitating. Without a healthy and sound lower back, every moment spent up-right can be agonizing, leaving us wondering if there is anything we might do to make the pain lessen or go away. Pain with an unknown cause is also quite worrisome. How can we rid ourselves of it without knowing what makes it happen?
However, there are ways to relieve the lower back pain, and it’s by using good posture. It’s funny how something so simple as a lower back pain exercise program can bring monumental rewards.
Most of its support comes from the arch that curves in towards the body. Think of these as the foundation or structures that take on most of the support. It’s similar to the function following form used in ancient architecture.
The only problem is we usually compromise our arch without even thinking about it. Slouching is the most common, but anything to draw it out of alignment is not good. Just like if someone pulls your arm behind your back, the higher it goes the more pain you endure. The same thing happens when you constantly put your back into positions that are not normal for it. In the end you wind up causing more tension, which will make things worse.
It truly is amazing how hard it is to keep the spine properly aligned. Heck, even if we try to do it properly, often times we strain muscles overdoing it. The goal is to slowly do it over time, instead of making the process more difficult with new tension.
This is why it is extremely important to utilize a proper posture program, which can teach the body how to develop a comfortable stance. The goal is to hold it for a long period of time and train the body to do it that way. If you can, the lower back will be relieved of its pressure and feel more natural.
This will allow you to relieve pressure, but more importantly it will strengthen the muscles that aren’t used very much. So the next time you have to sit properly or stand upright, the muscles won’t be too tired and only last for a moment. Eventually you’ll also gain more flexibility and dexterity, which can literally change your life all on their own.
All four of these criteria are essential for a good postural program. Without one of these, you may feel better at first, but over time the aches and pains will return as your body settles into its old and inefficient patterns. When combined, however, these four types of exercise support and re-enforce each other. They’ll help you to not only acquire new good habits, but to maintain them, and to prevent bad habits from developing.
Plus, you’re going to need a positive form of pain management. If you can see some of it being relieved by the proper posture, it will portray a stronger self-confidence about what the future will hold. If you believe it can be done, it can be. Soon you’ll be enjoying all the benefits of a healthy and pain-free lower back like many other are today. All it takes is figuring out the right place to start. The best place to start is by learning how to improve posture.
